After expanding his turf from the big screen to the comic book world, Godzilla made his official home at IDW Publishing. With their creative team of writers and artists, IDW gave the behemoth more cities to destroy and bigger monsters to fight.

Check out the five best Godzilla comics from IDW Publishing:

Godzilla Vol.1

Writer Duane Swierczynski and artist Simon Gane give Godzilla a human enemy to battle. Ex-Special Forces Boxer has an old score settle with the hideous creature. Before Boxer kills the King of Monsters, he has to make a profit out of his vendetta somehow. This series shows how greed can be worse than being a freak of nature.

Godzilla Vol.2

This time, an old-movie favorite returns to the comics. Writer Duane Swierczynski and artist Simon Gane give Gojira fans a battle they've been craving for. Godzilla has to take on his robotic counterpart, Mechagodzilla. With space beams blasting buildings and atomic rays burning bridges, who will be the true champion when the smoke clears?

Godzilla: Gangsters & Goliaths

John Layman and Alberto Ponticelli  deliver a pair of bloodthirsty mob bosses scarier than Godzilla. The Tokyo criminal underworld knows the only way to stop a good, honest cop is to make him go away. Because he wouldn't take the mob's bribe money, one good cop finds himself stranded on Monster Island. What's interesting here is that it's a crime tale starring the King of Monsters himself.

Godzilla: Legends

Your favorite movie monsters are all here. Each chapter is an original take on Anguirus, Rodan, Titanosaurus, Hedorah, and Kumonga. You, the reader, end up rooting for the monster to take down Godzilla.

Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters Vol.1

Writers Eric Powell, Tracy Marsh, and artist Phil Hester take Godzilla away from his Japan setting. This time, the giant beast is stomping around the streets of Los Angeles. How the hell is the U.S. going to stop the monster when others couldn't? This proves you can take something old and give it a new twist.

IDW Publishing has an awesome collection of Godzilla to pick up. As reported here, IDW has more in store for fans with Godzilla: Cataclysm this August.
