FX has released a bunch of teasers to get readers amped up to see their upcoming bloodsucker thriller, The Strain. We now know the official air date of the highly anticipated pilot and have the first set photo from the episode as well.

Based on the best-selling vampire trilogy and the graphic novel series from Dark Horse Comics, The Strain follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of scientists as they stumble upon a growing vampire plague. An ancient evil from a forgotten past, The Master, has resurfaced in New York and marked the city as his feeding ground. The Master's reign of terror will spread unless Goodweather and his team can stop him. Once the Big Apple is wiped out, so is the rest of the world.

From The Strain's official Facebook page, the premiere date and an official image of the vampire drama was released. Viewers should mark July 13, 2014 on their calendars. The highly anticipated pilot, directed by Hellboy's Guillermo Del Toro, will air during the summer heat wave.

The image shows a mysterious man wearing a containment suit. Could this be Corey Stoll (House of Cards) playing Goodweather, underneath the suit? Where is this scene from? In the books and comics, an airplane lands with the pilot and passengers dead, all bitten from The Master. That could actually be Dr. Goodweather investigating the airplane massacre.

How does the image compare the comic book? Check out The Strain motion comic from Dark Horse:

FX will premiere The Strain on July 13. Readers, are you excited as much as I am to see this show?
