Tennis fans are currently enjoying of the greatest eras of the sports existence, and it doesn't appear to be letting up any time soon. In the Italian Open final in Rome, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, two of the greatest players ever, went against one another, to add yet another trophy to their already crowded cabinets. Nadal was the defending champion, but Novak was able to raise his game, beating him 4-6 6-3 6-3 in two hours and 19 minutes.

Novak has now won four matches in a row against Rafael, and he will be hoping to take this form in to the French Open. Djokovic started slowly, but soon found his groove, and began to dominate the game. Both will be top contenders for the French Open, but soon their attention will turn to Wimbledon, where yet again they'll be favourites, but with British Andy Murray hoping to use his home advantage to keep himself in contention.

This duo have dominated the major and minor tournaments for a long, long time, and many are wondering when, and if, some young, talented tennis star will come along and dethrone them. It seems like that may still be a long, long time from now. Nadal will be a hot favourite to win the French Open, but with Novak in good form, can he be counted against?

Has there ever been a more dominant era in sports, or are the likes of Novak, Rafael, Roger Federer and Andy Murray just too good for the rest?
