Evan Peters portrays the speedy mutant Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which hits U.S. theaters on Friday. Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play the character in The Avengers: Age of Ultron next year. In a recent interview, DOFP scribe Simon Kinberg discussed the two interpretations of the character.

"We created our Quicksilver in a vacuum - not knowing what their Quicksilver would be, and the same for them," he told IGN. "It'll be interesting to see different interpretations."

Fortunately for him and the rest of those involved with X-Men, the Fox property gets first crack at the character.

"Luckily I guess for us we're the first ones out so we will be the first real experience of seeing Quicksilver," Kinberg said. "I know he was in the tag in Captain America [The Winter Soldier], but it's not the same thing as really living with the character in a story."

Finally, Kinberg noted the peculiarity of seeing the same character portrayed by two actors in two different film franchises approximately one year apart, but he also pointed out this happens often in other forms of entertainment.

"There's no real precedent in movies for something like this," he said. "Obviously characters change actors within the same franchise over time. But what I was talking with some of our actors about is it's not that different than like...do you know how many actors in our cast have played Macbeth at some point? Almost all the male actors in our cast. Michael [Fassbender] just made a Macbeth movie. You can find on the Internet Ian [McKellen] playing Macbeth. Patrick [Stewart]'s done it. James McAvoy just did it on stage a year-and-a-half ago. There are lots of iconic characters that get played and interpreted by different actors. It's just rare that it's a movie character that has this kind of attention around him."

Do you think it's worthwhile to compare the two portrayals of the character, especially before seeing either one? Let us know in the comments below.
