We all have a year we look back at, and would quite simply rather forget, or wipe off its existence. Manchester United's former manager, David Moyes, is most certainly having a horrific 2014, and it's a year that he will be desperately wanting to finish. In 2013 he completed his life-long dream, being hired as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor, but it's all fallen apart in 2014. After a horrible first season in charge he was fired as United's manager and now he's being investigated for an alleged bar assault on a young man.

The former Everton boss was highly rated, but led United to their worst season in many years, finishing seventh in the Premier League and failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, which has proven detrimental to both their reputation and finances. Since his sacking he's been relaxing and taking time out of the game, but the English police are now investigating his role in a reported assault on a 23-year-old in a Lancashire wine bar on Wednesday night.

Moyes has for a long time suffered with insults and jokes from fans across the country, so perhaps something was said and taken out of context. The police are using CCTV to examine the night's events, as well as talking to witnesses. The young man was not hurt, but 51-year-old Moyes will still face the wrath of the law regardless.

Could Moyes' year get any worse? A long break is needed, then he can think of returning to the game, but if this is true, his reputation is fast falling to the depths of nothingness.
