A bona-fide cult classic is about to be resurrected in comic book form. Jack Burton, the clumsy and moronic tough guy, returns for more martial arts action in Big Trouble in Little China #1.

As reported here, BOOM! Studios is giving the action/comedy flick the comic book treatment. John Carpenter joins co-writer Eric Powell and artist Churilla as they bring back the fast-talking Jack Burton (played by Kurt Russell) for more adventures. In the sequel comic, Burton finds himself in another surreal mishap involving his big rig, the Pork Chop Express.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Halloween director reminisces about the making of the cult classic, "It's a story and characters and a world that I love, because I really loved making the film. I hadn't seen anything like it, and it gave me a chance to make a kung fu movie. I fell in love with kung fu films back in the '70s."

Carpenter discusses how The Goon writer interprets the clumsy action hero in the comic, "Powell really gets Burton's sense of humor and who he is. Jack Burton is really a piece of s- if you want to be honest. He's a blowhard, he's sort of incompetent, but he thinks he knows everything. He's really fun. He's completely out of his league. That's the most fun about it."
