When Phil Jackson speaks anyone involved with the NBA in any shape or form usually listens. This time around is no different, as Jackson had key points he wanted to address with the media. 1- The New York Knicks. 2- Steve Kerr. 3- Carmelo Anthony. There's never a dull moment for the Knicks' organization, is there? Can Phil keep Carmelo in New York?

It looked like Jackson was going to be reunited with his former player, Kerr, but he opted to become the coach of the Golden State Warriors instead. However, Phil Jackson has revealed that Kerr had promised to take the Knicks job, verbally at least, anyway. He explained "So I had to kind of release him to actually go to this job and say you have to do what's right for yourself. I understood entirely the process he was going through to have that job open up. That was something he kind of thought would be a good fit for him. So that's good, we're happy for him."

One can only assume, although he seems fine through his words, Jackson must've been both hurt and surprised by Kerr's choice. It's believed that the Knicks are awaiting Derek Fisher to finish his season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, to then discuss the coaching position with him.

Regarding superstar Carmelo, it's looked likely that he will leave this summer. Jackson admitted he has offered Carmelo this advice: Why not stick it out for one more season and see how it goes? In other words, opt in rather than opt out. He explained "I just offered that as, 'This gives you an opportunity to see how this is going to change, and see how we're going to get going,' "

Once the NBA playoffs are finished it's going to be a crazy couple of months for the New York Knicks.
