The Strain first began a trilogy of books by visionary director Guillermo Del Toro (Blade 2) and author Chuck Hogan (The Town). Because Del Toro is a comic book fan, Dark Horse Comics was in charge of adapting the vampire books with writer David Lapham and artist Mike Huddleston. Now, FX has released the first teaser of the upcoming The Strain series.

With Del Toro directing and co-writing the pilot, what should viewers expect from the live-action adaptation? Does Huddleston's illustrations have an influence on the look of the TV show? Here are five ways the comic book has its stamp on the TV series.

1) Professor Abraham Setrakian

In the mythology, Abraham and The Master first met each other In WWII. For six decades, Abraham dedicated himself into being becoming a vampire hunter, waiting for The Master's return. In the TV series, David Bradley (the Harry Potter movies) plays the old professor, keeping the pointy beard and white hair.

2) Boeing 777

Dr. Ephraim Goodweather is called in to investigate the biological threat of Boeing 777. At first, the authorities think this is some kind of terrorist attack. Eph and his team have to slowly investigate the crime scene and find out why every single passenger is dead in their seat.

3) Vasily Fet

This character appears in the second half of the first book but he could be showing up sooner than expected. In the comic, Vasily, the exterminator, is drawn by Huddleston with the body of football star and has a tiny head. Played by Kevin Durand (Lost), this tough guy is still bulked up and looks like he can take on the vampires with his bare fists.

4) The Vampires

Vampirism is a parasitic virus that transforms the body from within. Your old self will be replaced by a new host. Because this is a comic book, the white color stands out to the eye and makes the pages look bouncy.

5) The Colors

Notice how there is a blue hue in the background, giving the screen a more '80s horror movie vibe. It's still comic booky, meaning the images are supposed to pop out.
