In a new Twitter rant from One Direction crooner Liam Payne, we finally get an apology from one of the boy band members about the recent pot smoking video scandal involving Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

"I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologies for that," Payne tweeted. "We are only in our 20's we all do stupid things at this age."

Though this is a prominent point of Liam's Twitter posts, his rant is mainly focused on a Daily Mail article that badmouthed the boy band for the recent behavior.

"Just read a daily mail article written by Jan Moir some of which I totally agree with but some things you are far off your game my friend," he said, eventually Tweeting (and then deleting), "Thank you for your lovely words mrs moir sorry we let you down so fantastically maybe next time a little research is in order."

"Like so many writers before, consistently get things wrong looking down [their] noses thinking they are oh so right," his rant went on. "Think you'll find I've written a lot of the next album and songs on the last I play piano Niall [Horan] plays guitar that ok?"

He added: "Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through this just know that we love you guys for it and it means the world. Hopefully we stand the test of time [and] get it right in the end I don't take this for granted and im extremely grateful to be here doing this. We all have a lot of growing up to do in an extreme circumstance I'm not making excuse but it's fact we are gunna fall short somewhere."
