This is her potential breakup song. Every album needs one right?

Katy Perry revealed in her interview as the Cosmopolitan cover girl for their July issue that when is comes to her former boyfriend John Mayer, that she will definitely be using their relationship as inspiration on her next album.

Her current album Prism, features Mayer inspired songs but in a positive light, including her track "Double Rainbow." A few songs on the album also deal with the breakup of her and Russell Brand, so it doesn't come as a surprise that she would use her recent breakup as inspiration.

Don't expect any Dear John-esque songs from Perry though, like the one Taylor Swift penned about Mayer when they broke up a few years ago. She says that even though her and John are no longer together she still very much respects him.

"I have a lot of respect for [John] still, and I know it goes both ways. There's no bad blood, but I'm sure there will be inspired songs," the "Birthday" singer tells the magazine.

As far as the "Daughter's" singer, Mayer told TMZ that he loves it when he is used as inspiration in his former flames songs. When a paparazzo brought up that Perry planned to write a song about him he joked saying, "My name is gold in other people's songs."

It's not just his ladies that use the relationships as inspiration, John famously wrote about Swift in his song "Paper Doll," and he even recorded a duet with Perry on his newest single "Who You Love."
