The Hulk was one of the fan favorites in The Avengers two summers ago, thanks mostly to his utter destruction in the climactic battle and his two comedic moments with Thor and Loki. But according to his portrayer, Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk will have a much more in depth development in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Ruffalo told Total Film that Bruce Banner/The Hulk would have more to do in Joss Whedon's sequel:

"[My role's] even bigger than last time, and it's more complex and it has more layers and a bit more arc. Not only that, but it seems that the motion capture process is becoming a whole lot more agreeable second time around. I'm really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff... now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers."

The actor spoke to Access Hollywood at the premiere of his new film in New York City last month and talked about his return as the Hulk, specifically with regard to the motion capture and putting the dots back on his face:

"We're in London right now, so I came in for this. It's been pretty wild. The technology is really advanced, so we can do a lot more with the Hulk performance in particular than we could last time around. So I'm really excited about the stuff we're doing right now with him and I feel like he's got some really nice nuance stuff; kind of his own little arc. The [Bruce] Banner stuff is great. Joss Whedon topped himself. It's such a great, beautifully written script and really exciting and fun."
