Darren Ferguson, Son Of Ex-Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Signs New Three-Year Contract At Peterborough United

Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United were a partnership through thick and thin, and it seems his son values that kind of loyalty, too. Darren Ferguson is enjoying his second spell as Peterborough United, and despite their lack of recent success, Peterborough United offered him a new three-year deal, which Ferguson graciously accepted. With Posh two levels below the Premier League, just how far can the son of the greatest manager of all time take his side?

Ferguson has led Peterborough to three promotions during his time in charge, and the task will be to make it a fourth in the coming 2014/15 season. Ferguson was delighted at sealing his future at the club. He explained:

'I am delighted to be signing a new 3 year contract with the club. After lengthy talks between the chairman and I regarding the future and where we both wanted to take the club and him showing me such support again gave me great belief of where the future lay.  I explained my vision of how we continue to be a success both in the development of our players and also on the pitch. I am very excited at the prospect of being at the new training ground on a permanent basis where we will get the opportunity to do this.

He has however parted ways with his assistant manager, Kevin Russell. Can Darren Ferguson add to his already impressive resume, and just how far can he take Peterborough United? After this seasons mishap, you'd be certain that his remit is to take them to the second tier, the Championship, once again.
