'True Detective' Season 2 Casting Rumors: Season 1 Star Matthew McConaughey Is 'Open' For More Episodes!

Fans of HBO's hit 2014 crime drama True Detective understand that the series created by Nic Pizzolatto is set up in a way that each season would be a whole different story with a new cast. Season one star Matthew McConaughey understands that, but a resent interview with the Dallas Buyers Club leading man revealed that he's definitely "open" to the idea of coming back to the critically acclaimed series.

"If HBO had wanted an option on me for a Season 2 or 3, I wouldn't have done it," he told Deadline this week. "I wouldn't have walked into something where they could say, 'We've got you for the next three years.'"

So it sounds like he was pretty cautious about this decision, though working on the series apparently changed his attitude!

"I liked True Detective, the whole series and the experience of making it, so much that I'd be open to doing another one now," he explained. "At the time, I was looking at six months and not beyond that. I don't know of a feature film I'd sign for where I'm going to say, 'If this works, you've got me whenever you want me for the next three years.'"
