With the controversy surround the Los Angeles Clippers recently, it's led to much debate about the value of sports teams. Many owners and teams have suggested that their team are worth far more than the $2 billion the NBA's Clippers sold for. Could Los Angeles Kinds' owner, Philip Anschutz, test the market, putting his NHL Stanley Cup Finalists up for sale? Whether they win or lose the final, it's rumoured that he will look to sell the team, with more value being added if they were to life the Stanley Cup, of course.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said that a few of the NFL franchises would be worth at least the same amount of Clippers were sold for. The Kings have been owned by Anschutz since 1995, but the Kings are rumoured to be losing money each and every year, making them a less attractive proposition for new potential owners. Anschutz's company, AEG, dismissed the reports, saying "AEG has no interest in auctioning any of its sports teams currently or at any time in the near future,"

In 2013 Forbes valued the Kings at $450 million, but it's expected they'd go for a lot more than that, especially with the Clippers sale seeing sports team values rise through the roof. Could the Kings really be for sale, and who would want to potentially buy the possible NHL champions?

One can wonder, if a sale is made, will some NFL and MLB owners start to wonder how much they can sell their franchise for in the near future?
