From the best-selling trilogy of books by visionary director Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth) and author Chuck Hogan (The Town) comes a new breed of vampire that will bring chills down your spin. FX has just released an extended trailer of the upcoming The Strain series.

The video opens much like the comic book adaptation from Dark Horse Comics. On a dark and stormy night, Boeing 777 mysteriously lands in New York with all its passengers dead. At first, everyone thinks this is another terrorist attack on the major populated city. With the alarms set on high alert, no one is allowed to step inside the plane. In reality, the cause of death is actually far worse than anyone could have ever imagined.

The highly anticipated thriller follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his team of scientists as they stumble upon a growing vampire plague. An ancient evil, known only as The Master, has returned to the Big Apple and marked the streets as his feeding ground. The Master's reign of terror will continue to spread unless Goodweather and his team can stop him. Once New York is wiped off the map, so is the rest of the world.

As reported here, we must compared the Guillermo Del Toro's TV series to the Dark Horse Comics series. See if you can spot any similarities here between the live-action trailer and the comic book.

The Strain premieres on FX this upcoming July 13. Readers, are you excited to see this new vampire series?
