Boxing Stars Kell Brook And Shawn Porter To Have Summer Title Bout In New York

British boxer Kell Brook will travel to America for a summer fight with IBF champion Shawn Porter. The pair had a June 10 deadline to reach an agreement, and they met the agreement in time. They have a two month training camp, however, it can be assumed that the pair had been training hard for this fight, even with no agreement in place. This will be one of the biggest fights of the year, but who will reign supreme in their August 9 showdown.

Porter, from Ohio, took on veteran fighter Paulie Malignaggi in April, and he destroyed him throughout. Many believe he will make easier work of Brook, but Brook is also a young, hungry fighter. Who will win this bout?

After beating Paulie, Porter said "He wished me the best, and I don't know what he's looking at next but he said, 'I lost to a great champion. I'm doing my best. I definitely needed this victory - to get it like this over this guy. I knew what he was coming with, but I always had some questions of my own. I came in and answered the questions and got the job done tonight." Will he use this victory and positivity to help him beat Brook?

This make or break fight will see either Porter or Brook rise to world fame. Victim Malignaggi believes Porter has the potential to be a star. After losing their bout he said "He has potential to be great, and I told him to go be great. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I don't want to lose to an average champion. I want to lose to a great champion. I told him to go be great, so if this is my last fight, I hope I lost to a great champion."
