The Cleveland Cavaliers Must Reject Chance To Draft Joel Embiid And Take Jabari Parker Or Andrew Wiggins In 2014 NBA Draft

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a big decision to make within the next few weeks. The lottery balls fell in their favour once again as they landed the No.1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft. Perhaps the second or third pick would of been easier, as now they have 3 options to choose from. It seems inevitable that the top-3 will consist of Joel Embiid, Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins. The Cavaliers must forget the appeal of drafting Embiid and select one of the other two stars. 

There's no doubt that Embiid could be the next Dwight Howard or Serge Ibaka, but with his injury history he could also be the next Greg Oden. Embiid will most likely have a great career wherever he ends up, but the Cavaliers desperately need to think of the present over the future. Especially when you add in the "work in progress" pick they made last year in Anthony Bennett, the Cavaliers quite simply need to get it right this season. 

Any team that gets 3 No.1 picks in four years should see some success soon after, so the idea of getting it wrong and enduring another painful season should worry them. If they could guarantee an improvement next season then perhaps Embiid could work, but if they were to draft one of Parker and Wiggins, they'd be likely to grab a playoff place. 

Whether it's Parker or Wiggins is irrelevant. Both will be superstars and both will be a huge hit, giving their team the superstar scored they so desperately need. Whatever they do they simply cannot and should not draft Joel Embiid.
