At this year's E3, Sony PlayStation delivered its official announcement about the upcoming Powers series. Based on the popular graphic novel series by artist Michael Avon Oeming, Powers writer Brian Michael Bendis gave the keynote speech about what audiences should expect from the superhero/police procedural TV show.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Bendis went upstage to officially announce Powers TV Show. The creative team includes crime novelist Charlie Huston and producer Remi Aubuchon (Falling Skies). Casting announcements and other updates will also be made throughout the summer.

To a crowded audience, Bendis states, "We are so excited to officially announce that Powers has been greenlit to series from Sony Television and PlayStation." The Powers writer continues, "One of my jobs, as executive producer of the show, is to make sure the TV show gives us what the comic book gave us. That it has all the integrity and everything that we built with all the authenticity we can muster."

As reported here, the upcoming PlayStation series revolves around two police detectives assigned to the Powers division. These two cops investigate superhuman crimes and apprehend criminals with special abilities. Also mentioned here, ComiXology offered readers a great opportunity to catch up on the comic book series. The first story arc, titled Who Killed Rocket Girl?, follows Homicide detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim as they try to solve the murder of the most popular superhero. Did one of Rocket Girl's own enemies killed her? Or was Rocket-Girl hiding a secret of her own as she yearned to leave the superhero business behind.
