The CW Network has released a new featurette for the highly anticipated The Flash series. Meet the S.T.A.R. Labs team members who are trying to figure out how an ordinary man struck by lightning can gain incredible speed all of a sudden.

In the DC Universe, S.T.A.R. Labs stands for Scientific and Technological Research. The research facility has no connections to the government or any other corporation, though they find themselves in league with Lex Luthor, who secretly funds their research. Two of the scientists from S.T.A.R. Labs, Silas and Eleanor Stone, are responsible for Cyborg's hi-tech armor and advanced machinery.

In the previous Flash series, starring John Wesley Shipp, S.T.A.R. Labs enlisted Dr. Christina Tina McGee (Amanda Pays) to experiment on Barry Allen's super-speed powers. As the season progressed, a love triangle was formed between Barry, Christina, and Iris West.

Now the scientific organization is back in the Arrow spinoff. Tom Cavanagh plays Dr. Harrison Wells, the team leader of his small band of geek scientists. Cisco Ramone (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin Stone (Danielle Panabaker) are his lab assistants, who have just witnessed Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) woke up from his coma. Caitlin is determined in his research while Cisco is more exuberant about making the toys for the superhuman speedster.

Cavanagh states, "They have to bond in solidarity because a lot of what was working for us, was taken away from drastically, tragically. And we have to work on that to make a brighter future."

The Flash is set to premiere in the fall. Readers do you think S.T.A.R. labs will turn out to be a friend or enemy to the red speedster?
