Funnyman Dave Chappelle has a string of nine stand up shows at New York City's Radio City Music Hall from June 18 to June 26. To celebrate, he's been making a number of appearances on talk shows, but this past Friday, the comedian stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and doled out some hysterical stories from the Chappelle Show past, including one about the ever-so talked about Kanye West.

West made his debut television appearance on the comedian's Comedy Central show back in 2004. At the time, the future husband to Kim Kardashian was unknown to the public, but it appears he's always had the makings of an A-lister.

"You could tell that he was going to be a star," Chappelle said. "I didn't know him until he did the show."

He continued, "It was like Muhammad Ali in Olympic village, he just knew he was gonna get the gold."

The Half Baked star then went on to tell the Tonight Show host about his first encounter with West – the day Jay Z's Black Album was released. The two met during an editing session of some never-before-seen sketches from Chappelle's show. With them was Jay Z, Common and a number of other celebs.

"We go to the edit and this is when everybody knew Kanye was going to be a star. Kanye's phone rings and he's like, 'Hello. No, no I can't because I'm at the edit for the Dave Chappelle Show watching sketches that no one's seen before.'" After a short pause, West continued, "'Cause my life is dope and I do dope sh-t.'"
