MStars News has learned that Aaliyah's family is planning to stop the production of the Lifetime biopic of the late singer.

According to TMZ, the network is scheduled to start filming this summer showcasing the R&B singer's life and tragic death. MStars News previously reported that 17-year-old Disney actress Zendaya has been casted to play the singer and actress.

Aaliyah died in 2001 in a plane crash, in the Bahamas at the age of 22. The singer was filming the last music video that she would produce on the islands called, "Rock The Boat," she along with eight others would die on August 25, 2001.

Take a look at the flashback, MStars truly misses the singer, this video was such a beautiful showcase of just how good Aaliyah was and would have been.

Aaliyah's uncle and former manager, Barry Hankerson, reveals that the family is angry because no one from Lifetime informed them about the movie.

Hankerson added that the family will hold any attempt on the network's part if they use the singer's music. He claims the family has hired a lawyer and are working on everything they can to block the release of the biopic.

Although the family does not want Lifetime to produce a movie, MStars has learned that they are not opposed to a big screen film. According to the site, the family thinks a TV movie is too small to show the life and work of Aaliyah.

Lifetime has not responded yet.
