Now that fans have had a few days to digest the Season 4 finale of Game of Thrones, it's time to look ahead to Season 5, which is an agonizingly long time away. But showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have offered a brief preview of the new season to give fans something to wait for in the next several months.

The two spoke to EW.com, which noted that many fans of the books consider the end of A Storm of Swords (which is where Season 4 ends) as a breaking point in George R.R. Martin's books. With that in mind, do the showrunners have any trepidation about Season 5? Not if past experience is any indication:

"After finishing season 3, we were nervous about season 4-we'd been looking forward to the Red Wedding for so long that once we shot it, we feared everything beyond that would seem like an anti-climax. We grew less nervous when we outlined season 4, less nervous still when we wrote the episodes, and all nervousness evaporated when we saw the directors' cuts and knew we had a great season in hand. For season 5, again, the fear started to dissipate when we outlined it and realized how much story we had to tell. Now that we're nearly finished with the first drafts of each episode, we see no reason why the coming season shouldn't be the strongest yet."

Some other highlights from the interview include:

-        Dorne will appear in Season 5.

-        Littlefinger will continue to operate in his unique way as he aims for the Iron Throne, while Varys' motivations will become clearer.

-        The fantasy aspects (White Walkers, giants, dragons, etc.) are not going anywhere.

-        The showrunners are still planning for seven seasons, so we are at something of a midpoint in the series.

-        Benioff and Weiss know Martin's ending for the saga and are working toward it.
