We've witnessed a ton of shocks at the 2014 World Cup already, however, a non-soccer related one is perhaps amongst the biggest of them. Beat's By Dre are one of the biggest headphones brands across the world, with athletes across the world using them. You can rarely go a day without seeing them around the neck of world famous superstars. Perhaps lately, you might of noticed them less. That's because FIFA have banned Beats from anything related to the 2014 World Cup.

One of the world's biggest sporting events moved to deny their place at the 2014 World Cup. A ban was put in place, stopping players from wearing them in all the stadiums and at all events. Why, you ask? Fifa has an official agreement and partnership with Sony Corp, and with them being Beats' rivals, they wanted the headphones banned, and instead supplied each World Cup player with their headphones instead.

FIFA and Beats refused to comment in depth, however, Beats president Luke Wood discussed the Sony ambush, saying "We don't ambush market. Music and sports are our sweet spot, so we just end up having a place there." Beats seem heavily relaxed about the situation, but with their worldwide success, they know, although a huge miss, missing out on a Sony-based World Cup is not the end of their brand.

Was this a smart, or petty move by FIFA and Sony, and how will Beats bounce back? It's been an interesting World Cup, but this news has just added to an already bizarre first week of soccer action.
