With England crashing out of the 2014 World Cup after only two games the pressure was instantly raised on Wayne Rooney and boss Roy Hodgson. However, Rooney has moved quickly to tell the world that Roy's methods are indeed improving the team, that they're further along than they were a few years ago and that they're very confident and hopeful that this losing experience will help them win in the future.

Rooney explained "He's put enthusiasm in the team. There's no doubt Roy is the man to take us forward." He added "We appreciate what he's done for us," he said. "He's changed the way we play over the last couple of years. It is a strange empty feeling. I've put everything into this tournament. But it is cruel, it is really gutting for me"

Rooney discussed the young Premier League players, saying "If you look at the Premier League over the last couple of years, the number of English players coming though is incredible. Ross Barkley, Luke Shaw and Raheem Sterling have had outstanding seasons and they've stepped up at international level. So we have to be excited about that - and hopefully in the future there will be more like that in the national team."

Is Rooney right, should England keep the faith in Roy Hodgson? Can Rooney rebuild his England career too? It's going to be a long summer of hurt for the England squad. These young players will of picked up some needed experience, but can they use that to become world class players in the future?
