There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the recent Aaliyah biopic that is in production at VH1, more specifically over the casting decisions that have been made.

Fans made their opinion known earlier this week when the music network revealed that they had cast Zendaya Coleman to portray the "One in a Million" singer. Uproar broke out on Twitter and even got the late singers name trending. People didn't seem to be too happy about the news.

Coleman had beaten out many hopefully for the coveted role, including BET host Keisha Chante.

While this backlash might deter someone from taking on the role, it seems that Zendaya is ready for it. Splash News caught up with the actress over the weekend to get her opinion of the drama surrounding the new film.

When she heard that many critics said that her skin tone wasn't dark enough to play the singer she was a little bit confused by the statement.

"A lot of people say I'm not black enough," Coleman said when the entertainment site caught up with her earlier this weekend. "Half black is just enough."

"It doesn't matter what color you are, it's about how you portray the character," she continued. "For those that don't know, Angela Bassett and Tina Turner, they look nothing alike but she was that character so I think that's what it's all about."

Kazeme Ajamu, the actress's father even chimed in, jokingly saying "They're shooting this in the summer. She'll get dark enough."
