T.I. And Azealia Banks: The True Story Behind The Beef. Iggy Azalea And 'XXL' Magazine Secretly To Blame!

As of recently, media outlets have been putting out articles about the beef between Harlem rapper Azealia Banks and ATL rapper T.I. All these blogs are claiming that the beef between Banks and T.I. has started because of Banks’ tweet that she soon deleted where she wrote “You want no mediocre… but have you seen your wife?” (This tweet was in reference to T.I.’s new single in which he repeatedly boasts about him not wanting any mediocre chicks around him). Blogs are also claiming that this beef has started because Banks has been throwing shots at him over the past two years.

However, if people are wondering how Banks ever began beefing with T.I. in the first place, neither the recent tweet about T.I.’s wife, or the claim that she has been going at T.I. for the past two years is a valid statement. This beef goes back to when Iggy Azalea made the XXL freshman cover in 2012. Azealia Banks stated her opinion about Iggy being on the cover of the magazine as an XXL freshman being “all wrong.” This immediately sparked beef between Banks and Azalea (although Iggy claims that there was a prior twitter incident that started their issues). On March 9th, 2012, T.I. and Iggy Azalea stopped by DJ Drama’s radio station to discuss business related to T.I.’s label, Hustle Gang. In the interview, DJ Drama asked Azalea about the comments made by Banks referring to her upset with Iggy being on the freshman cover.

T.I. quickly took over the conversation, not letting Iggy address Banks, herself. T.I. went on about how he did not know who Banks was, he did not know about her then-buzzing hit song 212, and that Banks should hope that she “sucks enough to get shelved and then next year when the freshmen cover comes back around, maybe she’ll still be a freshman.” T.I. was taking direct shots at Azealia Banks while defending his artist, Iggy Azalea. Banks hopped on Twitter the next day to address T.I. She basically fired shots back at him, concluding that he should not be commenting on drama that happens between two females.

Banks stated on Twitter that she felt the need to respond to T.I. because she does not have a man behind her. Banks, unlike Azalea who has T.I. or Nicki Minaj who has Lil Wayne, did not come up under a male artist, therefore if a man addresses her; she feels the need to almost always address him back by herself. This is where the initial beef between Banks and T.I. started.

T.I. has been doing non-stop interviews to promote his new single featuring Iggy Azalea and he is being asked about Banks’ recent twitter comments about him and his wife, and he constantly tries to portray an act about how he does not know who she is, usually right before he goes on a tangent about her, when asked about these twitter comments. Truthfully, Azealia Banks disrespected T.I.’s wife for laughs and should not have done so. However, T.I. should man up and stop acting as if he does not know who Banks is and admit he started all issues that pertain to the beef between him and Ms. Banks.
