The new Lifetime movie, which focuses on the life of the late singer Aaliyah, has been at the center of some controversy lately.

When news broke that the network was creating a biopic centered around the singers life, many fans took to Twitter to express their frustration and confusion, claiming that her life wasn't "interesting" enough to warrant a whole film based solely around her.

Well it seems that the plot for the movie will become a little more interesting. Sources are telling Page Six that the scandalous relationship between the "One in a Million" singer and R. Kelly will be one of the main focuses of the film.

The 90's songstress, who passed away in a plane crash in 2001, allegedly maintained a relationship with R. Kelly that resulted in a marriage in 1994 while she was only 15 and he was 27, clearly illegal.

Though the marriage was denied by both parties, a marriage certificate was later released which falsely claimed Aaliyah of being 18 at the time.

The biopic will document the singer's life between the ages of 10 and 22.

"Aaliyah's personal and professional relationship with R. Kelly will be explored with care in the film as we set out to depict her life with the utmost respect," Executive producer Debra Martin Chase, tells Page Six.

Zendaya Coleman is set to take on the role of the famous diva but has received some backlash from fans after getting cast in the role.
