Archaia, the imprint of BOOM! Studios, announces the collection of the hit four-issue miniseries, Hacktivist. Created by actress Alyssa Milano (Mistresses), the suspenseful comic book delivers a quick-paced adventure as social media hackers are on the run from government agents.
For Milano's first comic, the talented entrepreneur brought together an award-winning creative team. Colorist Ian Herring and letterer Deron Bennett both won critical acclaim for their work on Jim Henson's Tale of Sand. Co-writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, with artist Marcus To, have a crafted a modern tale that asks whether social media can be used for the greater good.
In the plot, ".sve_Urs3lf" has been exposing top-secret information from the government. Ed Hiccox and Nate Graft, co-founders of the social network YourLife, are actually the wanted hackers. Now that their secret has been blown, they have one last chance to do something right.
Boom! Studios' Editor-In-Chief Matt Gagon discusses why the cyber-thriller is such an excited read, "Hactivist is such a great concept, and we're all thrilled that it was so well-recieved when it came out as a miniseries." Gagnon continues, "And even if you're already familiar with the story, we've packed in a bunch of great additions and extras. The over presentation is gorgeous, as everybody has come to expect from Archaia."
Jack Dorsey, the co-creator of Twitter and Milano's inspiration behind the story, will provide a "Note to Readers" in the hardcover edition. An interview with real-life hacker and inventor Pablos Holman will also be included. As an added bonus, readers will be able to check out the early process work from the creative team.
The Hacktivist hardcover collection will be available in stores on July 16. Readers should not miss out on the first comic book created by Charmed actress Alyssa Milano.
