Indie publisher, Versus Evil, proudly announces a brand new title to their gaming lineup. Based on the popular Afro Samurai animated series, a videogame sequel is in the works for the next gen consoles and PC.

Based on the manga illustrated by Takashi Okazaki, the title character was inspired by the love of hip hop and soul music. After witnessing his father being decapitated, a little boy trained himself to become the best swordsman in order to retrieve his father's No. 1 headband. The hit manga series was later on adapted as an anime TV project starring Samuel L. Jackson and with music by RZA.

The videogame sequel is already in development at Redacted Studios. Just like its previous installment for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, this will be a third-person action/adventure game where the player gets to hack and slash their way through enemies. Along with an original storyline and new playable characters, gamers will also have improved special moves and combos.

The question we all want to know is, will the Pulp Fiction actor and the hip hop artist return for the sequel? RZA produced the soundtracks to Afro Samurai and Afro Samurai: Resurrection, bringing in tracks from Big Daddy Kane, Q-Tip, and GZA. Because Robert Fitzgerald Diggs is an up-and-coming TV star on Fox's Gang Related, it might mean he probably won't have time to contribute fully to the music.

In the anime sequels, the Django Unchained actor played the silent Afro and the chatty Ninja Ninja. You can't imagine anyone else playing that role. But if they can replace Mark Hamill as The Joker in the Batman videogames, maybe another voice actor will be replacing him.

More details about the Afro Samurai sequel will be released in the next coming months. Readers, are you excited to see Afro back in action?
