Earlier this week, Keeping Up with the Kardashians starlet Khloe Kardashian decided to wear a Native American headdress during her niece North West's first birthday party. Calling it "Kidchella," French Montana's girlfriend celebrated with sister Kim Kardashian and other family members, all while completely disrespecting an entire race of people. Now the Native American Council has issued an official statement in response to the Instagram photo.
While speaking with Page Six, the cultural director of the Redhawk Native American Arts Council, Cliff Matias, explained how the reality star "has conscience" and that the photo is "insensitive" towards the Native American people. The fact that Kardashian wore the headdress while the NFL is debated the Washington Redskins' name made it all the worse.
"It's terrible. It's absolutely terrible that they have no conscience to discontinue to do such things," Matias said. "But it's also sad. It's really sad that people who are celebrities don't take the responsibility and the understanding that they are trendsetters and they influence people, especially young people. It's a responsibility that I don't think a lot of them acknowledge that they have."
"I just can't believe she would be that insensitive to think it was OK to wear that war bonnet at a kids' party ... Now you have a celebrity at a kids' party creating a whole new generation of insensitive thinking," he continued.
So how did Khloe respond to all of the controversy this week?
