For somebody that's done it all, it can be hard to find new 'firsts'. However, former American Idol winner, David Cook, did just that on Wednesday 25 June 2014. The star singer has impressed Simon Cowell, won one of the world's biggest competitions, broke several Billboard records, but he had never played a show in England, a country that's one of a few that's in his blood. He changed that, coming to Cambridge, England, playing in front of over 400 American military members and their families and friends.

Navy Entertainment have been working hard to ensure that troops overseas get to enjoy some great events, despite being thousands of miles away from home. Cook gave those in attendance a few minutes under two hours of solid performances, jokes and moments of fan interaction, thanking the audience for their service at every chance he got. He explained on a few occasions, that this was his first show in England, and didn't expect many of the overseas Americans to of bought his first album, but he was pleasantly surprised as some raised their hand, confirming that they'd bought a copy.

The versatile singer performed a ton of covers, all of his hit singles that dominated the charts and then he followed it up by playing famous Led Zeppelin tracks to please the tiring audience. He also played David Nail's 'Kiss You Tonight', which he reminded the audience that he co-wrote, yet had to introduce as Nail's track. His rendition of this track seemed to bring the emotion to his face, showing that this song was possibly one full of his true feelings.

Following his fantastic display he spent over an hour signing autographs and posing for pictures with the Audience. Whilst the overseas Americans work hard for their country, David Cook wanted to ensure they knew how much he and his team valued their life-saving service and how delighted he was to be their guest for the evening. On a rare off-night for those in the audience, Cook put in extreme effort to show his appreciation. Lets hope the latest American Idol Caleb Johnson can do the same one day.
