Miss Delaware 2014, Amanda Longacre, Keeps Scholarship Money But Still Stripped Of Crown! ‘Too Old’ Controversy Continues!

Amanda Longacre is officially too old to hold her Miss America beauty pageant title. But at least the former Miss Delaware is about the right age of 25 to keep the scholarship money that was promised to her.  

Officials from the Miss America Organization will award the former Miss Delaware the scholarship money. Longacre doesn't get to keep the crown but at least, she gets paid for the time being. Sorry for not doing our job, but take this hush money and go away? Does that seem right to you, readers?

As reported here, the Miss America contestant was crowned the title of Miss Delaware. But, rules and regulations state that qualified contestants cannot turn 24 before December 31. According to the Miss America stipulation, the Delaware native has been disqualified because she celebrates being the ripe age of 25 in October.

Miss American Chairman and CEO Sam Haskell tells ABC News, "When the contract arrived in the national officer and her birth date arrived, we realized a mistake has been made on behalf of the Delaware pageant. I don't know how they missed and I don't know how she missed it."

So now it's her fault that the crown was taken away? That's kind of harsh to tell the victim of this public humiliation. The Miss Delaware website has completely gone blank, leaving no trace of Longacre's existence. Remember in those old cartoons, it's like Haskell broke the vase and is trying to sweep the broken pieces under the rug.

25 is supposedly too old for Amanda Longacre is to hold her Miss Delaware title. I hope Longacre does something very charitable with the scholarship money.
