The 2014 World Cup has been eventful on the pitch, but it seems that's transferred to the crowd, too. Despite all the feel-good World Cup news, two sad stories have been revealed. Firstly, a Brazil fan died from a heart attack after watching his team knock rivals Chile out in the Round of 16, whilst an England fan has had his ear bitten off by a fellow fan. While everyone has been enjoying the action, incidents like this soon put everything in to perspective.

A 69-year-old Brazil fan was watching the Brazil vs Chile penalty shoot-out in a bar close to the stadium, and the diabetic fan complained of feeling unwell, and was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after. The health officials had to treat 98 supporters during the match, from fights to other heart related incidents. It seems the biggest stage of soccer is too much for some to handle.

Brazil won 3-2 on penalty-kicks, and many fans said it was tense, and this proves it. However, this wasn't the only sad news. It's been revealed that an England fan had his ear bitten off by a fellow fan. It happened during England's 2-1 defeat against Uruguay on 19 June, but they have not been able to track down the culprit. It's believed it may of been some form of ironic behaviour, which somebody took too far, trying to emulate Uruguay star Luis Suarez, who is known for biting opponents.

Hopefully the World Cup can see a return to on-the-field drama, and hopefully no more tragic events happen off-the-field.
