For more than a year, rumors of a Planet Hulk solo movie have circulated, but those in authority at Marvel Studios, including actor Mark Ruffalo, continue to deny the claims. Many fans still want to see a solo effort for Bruce Banner since his scene-stealing appearance in The Avengers, but Ruffalo has once again insisted that Planet Hulk is the wrong move.

"I don't think ['Planet Hulk'] is the way to go yet," Ruffalo told MTV News. "I think you need more Banner. The whole thing is just him as Hulk, on a planet, fighting other gladiators."

Ruffalo also offered the following summary of the Planet Hulk storyline from the comics, though he skims over some of the finer and cooler points: "They launch Bruce Banner into space to try to get rid of him and the Hulk. He ends up freaking out, smashing up the spaceship, and it goes off course and ends up on this planet of gladiator creatures. He falls in love, has a Hulk baby...and then the Avengers nuke the planet."

But Ruffalo's denial might be for naught, as HitFix's Drew McWeeny reports on what is likely the climax of the film and says the Hulk has a major role to play in the battle with the villainous robot:

"Bruce Banner continues to play a key role in things in [Avengers: Age of Ultron], and when the final war with Ultron spills onto the battlefield and out of the virtual realm, he has a major part to play. Unfortunately, that ends with him onboard a Quinjet on his way off the planet, with no way to immediately turn things around. He's going to have to ride out the trip. It's pre-programmed and he can't stop it."
