USA have been starting to embrace soccer for a long while now, however, the 2014 World Cup might just go down as the moment when the entire nation truly opened their arms and allowed to sport to enter their heart. The U.S. weren't tipped to go far, but survived the Group of Death, battling alongside the likes of Germany, Ghana and Portugal. Next up was a clash against the highly-tipped Belgium, and despite their best efforts, they fell short, losing 2-1 in extra-time. Despite the loss, the match averaged a 9.6 rating, making it a new World Cup record for ESPN. USA will look to build on this and win the 2018 World Cup, and if so, it's likely they'll break that 9.6.

With the way the sport has rapidly grown across USA, you'd be sure that many more kids will start to take soccer seriously, and with the size of the U.S. it's clear that one day they will have plenty of options to chose from talent-wise. With the way America has taken to the sport, and the way Coach Jurgen Klinsmann is building the men's National team, one can wonder, will they easily break the 9.6 record in the next World Cup, but more importantly, by then, could they lift the trophy?

Klinsmann is most certainly the main to build for the long haul, and compared to some nations he's worked with little talent, however, his players still were able to be one of the 16 best teams in the 2014 World Cup. It's clear to see his strategy is working, and in turn the fans wanted to see what his players could produce.

If this continues, not only will they shatter the 9.6 ESPN rating, but they can consider themselves a top contender to win the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which is something they've never been able to do.
