Glee fans are going to be devastated when the hear the news that Chris Colfer won't be returning to the series when it's sixth and final season debuts early next year.

UPDATE: CHRIS COLFER WILL NOT BE LEAVING GLEE. FOX REPORTED THAT THE ACTOR'S TWITTER ACCOUNT WAS HACKED.

The actor broke the news on his Twitter page today, stating, "Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanations will come shortly..."

Our teen hearts are literally breaking right now.

Colfer starred as Kurt Hummel on the FOX musical series since it debuted back in 2009. Viewers have watched as the closeted character journey to self-discover and love, as he has been with boyfriend Blaine on the show since season two.

No word on how creator Ryan Murphy will incorporate Kurts exit into the Klaine storyline.

"It think it will be a good time to conclude the series," Chris revealed to E! News when they caught up with him earlier this year to ask him how he felt about the show coming to an end.

"It's a very, very difficult show to do, as everyone knows, and I think when people say that we're the hardest working cast and crew in television, I don't think its an overstatement. I think it's very much reality," the actor stated.
