Russell Brand, ex-husband of Katy Perry opened up about his divorce on Howard Stern's Sirius/XM radio show.  He was on the show to promote the FX show "Brand X" but Stern somehow got him to spill some more personal details.

When Katy Perry and Russell Brand divorced, it was one of the most peaceful divorces seen in Hollywood history.  Brand did not even consider taking the $40+ million that he is legally entitled to.  And he did not recklessly go into new relationships in the midst of the painful split.

Brand's love for Perry was "overwhelming" and real, he revealed.

"I loved her so much, it just seemed like the sensible thing to do [when we got married] ... I just loved her so much," Brand said.

He also addressed the hard reality of a long distance relationship that required sacrifice and dedication.  The two tried hard to work it out so that they could spend time together, but in the end it just didn't work out.  Brand even said they had some talks about building a family together someday.

Brand tried to be very sensitive throughout the interview as to not hurt the feelings of Perry.  When pressed about his future of building a family and new relationships, the British comedian didn't want to go into details.

"I don't want anything to hurt her.  She's younger than me, she's a young woman and she's beautiful and she's sensitive and I care about her deeply ... I don't want to be too glib," said with fear that tabloids will not be sensitive.  "She'll read it and she'll be sad and I don't want that."

And regarding the money he could receive from the divorce, Brand explained, "I've got a good job.  All I want to do I want to live a good life ... I'm not into taking money from women."
