Holland Roden heats up the screen on MTV's hit series Teen Wolf, but now the star is heating up the newsstands as she poses in the new issue of Maxim magazine.

The 27-year-old actress opens up about her college experience, the current season of Teen Wolf, and what kind of STD she makes sure to avoid on set.

She explains in the July/August issue of the magazine that she had a very gloomy experience during her college years, saying that she worked three days a week and commuted to be able to afford nursing school.

"It was such a sad existence," Roden explains. "I was doing nursing school in the evening, I worked at a restaurant three nights a week, I was commuting every single day, and that was my life".

She does however say that her time working on the werewolf drama has definitely made up for her lackluster college days.

"We filmed our first season in Atlanta, and there was a lot of partying," the redhead reveals. "And there were a lot of gay men who worked on our show, so I would go to this male strip club, Swinging Richards. The dancers wore only Speedos and sneakers, and let me give your readers a tip -- Speedos and sneakers? No. Never. Those do not ever, in any sort of capacity, go together."

We will make sure to keep that fashion tip in mind, Holland.

As for her time acting on the popular series, she says it hasn't been without its challenges, especially when it comes to werewolf nails.

"With the werewolf nails, the guys can't unzip their pants to pee," Roden explains with a laugh.  "It's a big ordeal, so I always joke that -- you know fluffers? There needs to be a person who comes in and helps them pee. I keep bringing it up. 'Anyone need an assistant pee-er?'"

When it comes down to the biggest thing that she has learned while working on the series, she says it would be how to avoid getting herpes.

"Make sure they don't have oral herpes," she says; it's her biggest concern about make-out scenes. "We have a couple of cast members who have cold sores, and when they have outbreaks, kissing scenes legally have to be rescheduled. I am not getting mouth herpes from Teen Wolf. You can take my dignity, but you'll not take my lack of mouth herpes."
