FX snaps open its fangs and brings Halloween a little bit early for San Diego Comic-Con. Not only will attendees watch an unaired episode of Guillermo Del Toro's The Strain, they will also meet the visionary director himself and the cast of the hotly anticipated vampire series.

As reported here, The Strain follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) as he investigates the arrival of a dead airplane at New York's JFK Airport:  the plane stops dead on the tarmac after landing, its lights out and communication silent. Something ancient and evil was hiding inside the aircraft, along with the unsuspecting passengers. Goodweather and his associates will discover a flesh-eating virus that feeds off of and mutates the host.

On Sunday July 27, at Hall H, audiences will be on the edge of their seats watching the vampire lore with a twist. If you have read the Dark Horse Comics series, then you will want to see how the live-action series brings to life the artist Mike Huddleston's illustrations. Watch the unaired third episode before regular views get a chance.

With the premiere set for July 13, convention-goers will be watching the third episode, Gone Smooth, followed by a panel discussion with the cast and crew. Along with Del Toro, executive producer Carlton Cuse, co-writer Chuck Hogan, Stoll, David Bradley (Abraham Setrakian), Kevin Durand (Vasiliy Fet) and more are scheduled to appear.
