Get ready to get gleeful.

The sixth season of Fox's hit musical series Glee will begin filming this summer and it appears that one of our favorite stars will indeed be returning to the series.

Naya Rivera who was rumored to have been fired earlier this year when sources claimed that her and producers were clashing on set. TVLine has learned that the actress who portrays Santana Lopez will be returning to the hit series, but that it won't be in the capacity that viewers might think.

Instead of a series regular, Rivera will be credited as a recurring guest star. Now, before all you gleeks out there start gleeking out, know that this is something that Naya requested and that the producers agreed to.

Other cast members, like Amber Reiley and Jenna Ushkowitz, have also had their contracts fine-tuned making them guest stars during the course of the series, but they have continued being featured in many of the episodes, and we assume the same will happen with Naya.

The TV news site got the chance to talk to cocreator Ryan Murphy about the theme for season six.

"We're working on the last season now, and it really feels like it's getting back to its roots, which I love," Murphy told the site. "I'm sort of reinvigorated about it. It's getting back to what I was initially interested in with the show, which was arts in school. The last season is really about the importance of arts education in our high schools... I think people will like it."

The premiere date for the new season is being held by Fox for mid-season.
