Reports surfaced last month that Warner Bros. would make some major announcements at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 later this month, including the studio's DC Cinematic Universe slate. But a new press release from the studio contains a shocking omission.

Warner Bros. issued a press release to announce its schedule for Comic-Con, but Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is nowhere to be found. The same is true for Justice League and the numerous other rumored DC movies. It's possible this is all just a setup and the studio will surprise fans with a major reveal (or more), but as of now, the superhero blockbuster is not on the schedule.

Comic Book Movie has posted the full press release here.

Former Deadline writer Nikki Finke started the buzz when she launched her own website with a bang. She posted an exclusive reveal of Warner Bros. and DC Comics' plan for a cinematic universe. It seemed like almost too much to believe, but then the reliable Kevin Smith confirmed her report.

Finke reported Warner Bros. would announce the following movie slate at Comic-Con: "Shazam (July 2016), Sandman (Christmas 2016), Justice League (May 2017), Wonder Woman (July 2017), Flash/Green Lantern team-up (Christmas 2017), and Man of Steel 2 (May 2018)."

Smith then said on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast (skip to the 1:29:00 mark for the relevant portion) that he has known about the lineup for a while but could not say anything about it.

Finke also discussed what she claims is the true reason WB pushed back Dawn of Justice from its original 2015 release date:

"There will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern may be introduced. And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros. Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn't want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months."
