Thanks to a recent Twitter post on J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot production company account, we now know that 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII is being filmed with IMAX cameras. This technology ensures us that fans will get the chance to watch this highly anticipated new movie in special IMAX theaters when it premieres on its December 18, 2015 release date.

Check out a photo from the set of Episode VII posted to Twitter featuring an IMAX camera in use:

"All we can say at this point is that we can confirm that JJ Abrams is using the IMAX camera for Star Wars: Episode VII," a representative for IMAX said, according to SlashFilm.

IMAX announced a few months back that the movie would be presented on IMAX screens, so this is mainly just a fun confirmation.

"We are delighted to build upon this longtime association and continue to collaborate to bring many of the most iconic and cutting-edge properties in the world to life in the most immersive way possible," the press release announcing this news of certain Disney films becoming IMAX theater attractions stated.

Abrams' previous IMAX usage was in Star Trek Into Darkness, which featured plenty of IMAX footage and was also converted to 3D. We're not sure if he'll do the same with Episode VII, but we really don't see why he wouldn't.

Hopefully a 3D conversion comes, but for now we're very excited for how Star Wars: Episode VII comes out on IMAX next year!
