Back in the role that made her famous to sci-fi/horror fans, actress Sigourney Weaver returns as the iconic Ellen Ripley. It won't be on the big screen like Ridley Scott's cult classic, Alien, but this time, videogamers will be playing the tough heroine in Alien: Isolation.

In the horror videogame, Amanda Ripley is searching in the darkness of outer-space for her long-lost mother. Amanda is searching for the truth behind Nostromo's missing crew but something else has found her. The mother/daughter reunion is put on hold when an evil alien creature steps foot inside her stranded spaceship.

Moviegoers already know Weaver played Ripley in the four Alien sequels. Does her reappearance mean the sci-fi franchise will continue, at least through videogames? What it really means though, is that the Ghostbusters actress will reunite with her fellow cast-mates, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, and Yaphet Kotto.

When gamers preorder the Isolation game, they will receive the upgrade to the 'Nostromo Edition.' In the DLC package, players will have to go through two missions, "Crew Expendable," and "Last Survivor." If they make it to the end, gamers will recreate the climactic scene where Ripley has to self-destruct the ship with the unstoppable killer chasing after her.

If you watch the video, it certainly is nice to hear the original Alien cast back together, repeating their famous lines from the treasured sci-fi flick.

Alien: Isolation will be released on October 7, just in time for Halloween. Readers, what do you think of Sigourney Weaver's return to the Alien franchise?
