When NBA free agency started it seemed like LeBron James was destined to stay with the Miami Heat, whilst his long-time friend, and rival, Carmelo Anthony, was going to test the market. Both stars opted out of their NBA contracts and assessed their options, however, in a strange turn of events, it seems like LeBron may leave, and Carmelo looks set to ditch this free agency saga, and commit to a long-term New York Knicks contract. Did anyone see these deals coming? Can Carmelo fulfil his ambitions in New York?

He has been offered a max contract for a five year stay, and he had offers from the LA Lakers and the Chicago Bulls, but looks set to turn them down. Anthony was believed to be waiting for LeBron to make his move, so that he could once again evaluate the market, but it seems like even he's bored of waiting is expected to make the first move after all.

Anthony was tipped to leave as his Knicks team slowly regressed during his time there, and after gutting their roster it seemed like there was no way to attract him back. However, it seems the New York management have done just that, so one can wonder what they've promised him, and how much better could their future be than the likes of the teams he so easily turned down?

Can Anthony win an NBA championship, and how have the Knicks managed to convince him to resign after all this time? It's going to be a great summer, that's for sure.
