Former Premier League Footballer And British Boxing Champion Curtis Woodhouse Retires

It's not often a man can look at himself in the mirror knowing he's completed all of his dreams, and it's a near miracle, or an unthinkable amount of work, for one to look at themselves knowing they've completed two childhood dreams. That's the life of Curtis Woodhouse summed up in a nutshell. The star was a top Premier League prospect, but in his twenties he traded it in to become a professional boxer. Despite being laughed at and dismissed, he went on to become a British boxing champion in early 2014. However, last month he lost his title, and today he confirmed that he has retired from boxing for good.

The 34-year-old star has done it all in two sports, at the highest level. In fact he's achieved so much that it wouldn't be unthinkable for the star to have a movie based around his life. He explained his decision, saying "I've had an unbelievable ride, for eight and a half years I've been in with some of best Britain's got to offer. After my last fight and losing my British title I realised not long after that that it was time for me to step away from the game.

The Yorkshireman continued "I didn't want to stay in there and take unnecessary punishment. I just believe I got in and achieved everything I wanted to achieve and believe now is the perfect time for me to walk away with my head held high and my chest out and pride to my achievements. What's next for the man that's done it all? For a while, while boxing he has managed his local soccer side, AFC Goole, and it seems like coaching in sports may be where he is headed. What else can this man possibly do? At least he can sleep at night, smiling, knowing he's done his family, friends and fans so very proud.
