On Thursday, actress Liv Tyler took friend and Leftovers co-star Justin Theroux to meet the family - dad Steven Tyler and Aerosmith kicked off their "Let Rock Rule Tour" at Jones Beach Theater in Long Island, New York.

Theroux, 43, wearing a MIA-POW muscle shirt and skinny jeans, posed for several selfies with fans as he watched Aerosmith crank out the hits, while Liv, 37, rocked a more causal style in a long flowing black dress with rights and sandals.

Theroux's passion for rock n' roll (and punk in particular) is reflected in his every day style. He spent his teen years in the Washington, D.C. punk scene of the '80s and followed bands such as the The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Minor Threat and countless others.

Liv, meanwhile, is the spawn of rock royalty. The daughter of Steven Tyler and model Bebe Buell, she believed she was the daughter of Todd Rundgren until she was well in her teens.

The show at Jones Beach was the first stop on the bands' 20 date tour. Over the course of an 18 song, two hour set Aerosmith played the hits ("Janie's Got a Gun," "Pink") and the deeper cuts ("Kings and Queens," "No More No More" and "Chip Away the Stone" which has only ever appeared on Live Bootleg and on the Gems collection).

The song that got some of the biggest cheers of the night was "Livin' On The Edge" when Tyler wandered over to the VIP section to share the mic with Liv.
