Is Mick Jagger responsible for Brazil's massacre against Germany on Tuesday? The Rolling Stone scoffs at the notion, but Brazilians believe it to be true.

It seems Jagger has developed a reputation for being "King Midas with a curse," not only because he supports his national team - the always disappointing England - but because he appears to be on the losing side of any team he supports.

The idea of the Jagger curse began during the 2010 World Cup in which Jagger attended matches to support his beloved England, the U.S. and Brazil in separate games. They all lost. Brazil's bad feelings about Jagger began in that instance - they blamed Jagger for their loss based on a Brazilian shirt he wore.

When the World Cup came to Brazil this summer, Brazilians were more than a little leery of Jagger's presence at the games and hoped he had enough on his plate with the Rolling Stones world tour to give it much notice.  Unfortunately, they were mistaken. An AP report stated, " At a concert in Rome on Saturday night, Jagger predicted to 70,000 fans that four-time World Cup champion Italy would pull off a clutch victory over Uruguay to advance to the knockout phase. The Italians lost 1-0 Tuesday and were headed home after the tournament's first round.

At a show in Lisbon in May, the singer predicted that Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, the game's top player heading into the World Cup, would win it all at the monthlong tournament in Brazil. Portugal is on the brink of elimination after failing to win in its first two group matches.

Earlier in the World Cup, Jagger suffered some good-hearted ridicule after taking to Twitter on June 19 to urge on his native England in a game, also with Uruguay. 'Let's go England! This is the one to win!!,' he wrote. England lost."

And with that, Jagger was on his way to Brazil.  "Pé Frio" ( literally translated as "cold feet," a person who brings bad luck) was in the stadium to witness the worst home loss ever in Brazilian soccer. Brazil was crushed by Germany, 7-1.

Jagger has been under siege by local and social media since the loss. His good natured response to the jinx accusations? "I can take responsibility for the first German goal but not the other six!"
