For the past few months it seemed like Carmelo Anthony was a certainty to leave the New York Knicks and test NBA free agency. He did just that, but after assessing the market, he's decided to pack his bags and return home. Many believe there's a reason for this. It cannot be the money, as he would've received similar amounts if he'd signed elsewhere. Could NBA legend Phil Jackson have changed his mind, by revealing a huge masterplan that will shake up the NBA, and make the Knicks great again?

Phil Jackson has been there and done it all, and he's shown time after time that he knows how to win it all. The Knicks showed promise, and now he's here to sweep up the mess that was left, after that promise shattered. Anthony knows the time is ticking if he's to get an NBA championship to his name, so Jackson must have promised him something much more attractive than money.

Has he had word that a star like Kevin Love or LeBron James wants to join forces with them in New York in the coming years?  Has he got some blockbuster trade lined up? Nobody knows, but Anthony's a smart man, and for him to change his mind so rapidly, something has to have been offered. Perhaps it's just Jackson's superb track record as a coach.  Perhaps only Carmelo and Phil know, but it's something the NBA and its fans need to keep their eyes on.

It may come tomorrow, or in a year's time, but we will find out how Jackson convinced Carmelo to return to New York, after the star seemed desperate to leave.
