Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods has been quite successful for the franchise, and a new report says series creator Akira Toriyama is working on a new film.

Anime News Network reports the September issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine will announce Saturday that a new Dragon Ball Z movie will open during the Golden Week series of holidays next spring. The site reports Toriyama, who created the Dragon Ball manga, is "personally credited" with crafting the original concept, screenplay and character designs for the new film.

Toriyama reportedly confirms in the magazine that the movie would tell a new story, much like Battle of Gods did last year. He plans to write the story as if it were a continuation of the manga's original serialization, according to the report. Toriyama is also reportedly putting more effort than he had planned into the artwork, along with "fussing over the smallest dialogue lines." He hinted that the story is under wraps for now but is "utterly funny."

To really drive the point home regarding his effort on this project, Toriyama said his first manga editor praised him for the work he has done thus far, which the editor rarely does. Toriyama believes fans will enjoy the new movie and is currently working on the new character designs.
