Orange Is The New Black star Jason Biggs has deleted offending Tweets he posted earlier today after the crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17, which was shot down over the Russian-Ukraine border, killing 295 people. He has since issued a few apologetic Tweets over the social media site.

Earlier today, not long after news broke of the deadly crash, Biggs tweeted a tasteless joke: "Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?"

Twitter users immediately slammed Biggs for his insensitivity, but he didn't back down. Instead he called them "losers." He also said they had "issues" and "too much anger."

Needless to say, the war of words escalated. One follower told the 36-year-old actor to "Go f**k a pie you piece of s**t. You're such an attention seeking f**king whore."

Another added, "You'd laugh if your kids died in a plane crash?"

At that point, one would have thought Biggs would have taken the Tweets down, but he didn't. Instead, he continued to defend himself with more profanity-laced responses: "Truly - you losers are literally trying to find s**t to get angry about. Channel your issues elsewhere."

He also said "Hey, all you "too soon" assholes - it's a f**king joke. You don't have to think it's funny, or even be on my twitter page at all."

And at one point, the former American Pie funnyman tried to explain himself: "The idea that I wouldn't have any empathy 4 the victims or their families because I make a joke is absolutely ridiculous. U know that, right?"

Cooler heads must have prevailed (perhaos in the form of Biggs' PR team, though he denied it) and another set of Tweets went up - these were apologetic. See below:
